I first started CrossFitting in Los Angeles at Rancho Park where CFLA used to host WOD’s year-round.  Alas, when I moved back to Minneapolis and decided to start TwinTown CrossFit I realized that I would need a real box unless I wanted my team to be doing burpees in the snow all winter.  So I spent a lot of time looking for suitable boxes.  One day I was scanning Craigslist when I found this 1600 square foot space, located in the Wedge right around the corner from French Meadow:

Roll up garage door!

Apparently this place used to be a municipal garage, which is why it has a roll up garage door – a real rarity in non-industrial neighborhoods.  The property management company let me cruise around inside and take a lot of pictures.  Here’s a view from the inside, facing the garage doors:

The property management company is making a lot of improvements including new HVAC and new windows along the South wall where you see the stud framing and insulation now.

Originally I was planning on a Grand Opening on November 1, but there was too much work to do to rehab the space, and so my lease will begin on November 16.  Between now and then, I’ll keep posting status updates here.  Wish me luck!
